The luxury hotel Le Refuge de Solaise is located at an altitude of 2551 meters and can only be reached by gondola in winter. This makes it one of the highest located hotels in France. Le Refuge de Solaise is the proof that a rustic interior, overall luxury, and modern facilities go perfectly together. You will stay in one of the 16 rooms or 4 apartments and when you are not discovering the surroundings, you can make use of all kinds of pleasant facilities. For instance, there are different restaurant concepts (including the famous restaurant Gigi), a bar, a large outdoor terrace, a gym and a spa and wellness area. The hotel also has a shop selling clothes and accessories, and there is a supervised play area for small guests.

A stay at Le Refuge de Solaise is highly suitable for large families or groups of friends. The four apartments can accommodate from four to eighteen people. They are all equipped with large open kitchens, living rooms, and balconies with phenomenal views over the surrounding mountains. The comfortable, also rustically furnished rooms are perfect for lovers and smaller families.

Of course, you can go out every day to discover the surroundings. In summer, for example, you can discover the beautiful mountain world by making various hikes. Prefer cycling? That's also possible, there are various mountain bike routes and you can rent e-bikes in the village. In winter, you are in the middle of the Tignes-Val d'Isère ski area. You have over 300 kilometers of slopes and a good network of ski lifts. The ski area is mainly suitable for advanced skiers and off-piste lovers. The hotel provides ski passes and the ski lift - Solaise gondola - is just around the corner.

After a long day, when you 'come home', you can pamper your body and mind in the spa. Here you will find a 25 meter indoor pool, where you can swim while enjoying the mountain view. Furthermore, you can visit one of the 4 treatment rooms for facials and massages, and you can relax in the jacuzzi, hammam, and outdoor sauna. Prefer a tasty (alcoholic) snack? Then head to the atmospheric bar and enjoy an aperitif or hot chocolate.

With the gondola upwards

Where Le Refuge de Solaise can be reached by car in summer, the hotel can only be reached by gondola from Val-d'Isère in winter. The Solaise gondola operates every day from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, which means you need to arrive within these times to reach the hotel. Step into the gondola with your luggage and the adventure can begin! Once you arrive at the top, the hotel is about 200m further on, but do not worry, a hotel employee is ready to transport you and your luggage through the snow to the hotel. On Wednesdays and Fridays, it is also possible to arrive from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm, when the gondola can be reserved upon request.

Thanks to the old types of wood, carefully selected fabrics and references to traditional Alpine heritage, you will be immersed in a unique setting. The 4 apartments are designed to welcome you as a guest along with your family or friends in warm and friendly spaces, with only the best facilities. Wherever you stay, thanks to the king and queen size beds and the fresh mountain air, you will sleep like a baby.

Four seasons, two concepts

Not only nature lovers, but also culinary enthusiasts are at the right place at Le Refuge de Solaise. In summer you can go to the restaurant for summer dishes in an idyllic setting, from lunch on the terrace to dinner in the atmospheric indoor space. In winter, the restaurant is transformed into the well-known restaurant concept Gigi, where you are invited to discover the art of life: Alla Grande! Every day you can go there for lunch and on Wednesday and Friday you can enjoy a fantastic dinner with a Mediterranean touch including live music! In the Refuge Bar you can have breakfast in the morning, lunch with fully laden snack platters and desserts, and relax at the end of the day with an aperitif. Also in winter, Le Petit Refuge is open, where you can go daily for lunch on the terrace.

Discover the mountain world around Val-d'Isère

Whether you stay in Le Refuge de Solaise in winter or summer, you can entertain yourself from early morning till late evening with all kinds of activities in nature. For example, take a short walk to the idyllic mountain lake Lac de l'Ouillette and settle down at the neighbouring restaurant La Plage-L’Ouillette, where you can enjoy delicious pastries from the patisserie among other things. There are also many opportunities for challenging day trips and real adventurers can opt for a route including via ferrata. You can also enjoy fantastic mountain biking in the area and there are multiple options for paragliding, yoga, and canyoning.

In the winter, you can enjoy more than 300 kilometers of ski slopes and many additional activities in the Tignes-Val-d'Isère ski area. Consider a husky sledding trip, snowshoe hiking or ski touring. There are also numerous off-piste options for advanced skiers.
