A decade ago, Castiglioncello del Trinoro, in the idyllic Italian region of Val d'Orcia, was a ghost town. This completely changed when American lawyer Michael Cioffi visited - fell in love with the fine atmosphere and the authentic buildings of this place - and decided to create a luxury refuge here.

Today, half the village consists of the beautiful hotel, Monteverdi Tuscany. Nestled in the hills are three stone Private Village Houses, a refined hotel with eighteen rooms, a 12th-century chapel, a restaurant, and a small enoteca. It feels like walking into a film set, only everything is real and you experience pure tranquility and unprecedented luxury.

At the infinity pool in the garden and at the full-service spa, you will enter complete relaxation mode. In your fantastic room, you can cocoon pleasantly and for culinary pleasure, this super-luxury hotel has different occasions where you can sit down. The Oreade restaurant is the place where breakfast, lunch, and dinner are prepared with fresh ingredients from the area. Enoteca is the stylish wine bar with a selection of 32 wines, tasty hams, and fresh salads with seasonal vegetables. The architect duo Ilaria Miani and Ernesto Bartolini have stylishly renovated this rural getaway in collaboration with local craftsmen. Authentic details have been accented and custom-made furniture wonderfully combined with contemporary design. This, along with the Tuscan tiles, granite, and Carrara marble, gives every room such a special look that it sometimes almost feels like taking a few steps back in time.

The vision of Michael L. Cioffi

When American lawyer Michael L. Cioffi one day ventured to Tuscany and discovered Castiglioncello del Trinoro, he fell in love instantly. It immediately became clear to him: this was the place where he wanted to build his dream of the future. "My vision for Monteverdi was to create a place that is different from all others," explains Michael. "A place of unparalleled beauty, stunning architecture and design, all complemented by cultural amenities of art, music, and humanities." And so it happened. Monteverdi Tuscany has become that special place. Exactly as Michael had envisioned.

The countryside boutique hotel consists of four different types of accommodations that have been extremely stylishly renovated by the architects Ilaria Miani and Ernesto Bartolini. There are five 'Luxury Rooms', seven 'Village Suites', six 'Luxury View Suites' and three spacious Private Village Houses located atop the hills. Each room has a unique interior and consists of special elements. You never tire of the authentic details, the vintage furniture, the beautifully designed bathroom, the beautiful paintings on the wall, and the picturesque view of the landscape outside.
