Although Villa di Piazzano has been serving as a luxurious hotel since 2001, the history of the building goes much further back in time. The beautiful, monumental building dates back to 1464 and is originally the hunting lodge of Cardinal Passerini. Today, the hunt for wild boars, pheasants and other animals still takes place in the surrounding hills during hunting season. And in those same hills – centuries before – the base camp of the Roman army was set up, during the bloody battle of Trasimeno.
