Atmospheric and personal boutique hotel near the beach and center of Lagos
During her road trip through Portugal in 2014, the French owner Veronique fell head over heels in love when she discovered Casa Mãe. Back then, it was a dilapidated house near the beach and an estate of well over 7000 hectares. Today, it's a luxurious retreat with a fantastic interior, an organic restaurant and 30 unique and comfortable rooms to stay in. As soon as you step inside, there's a good chance you'll never want to leave, just like Veronique. We're just going to say it: enter at your own risk!
Casa Mãe is located in the Portuguese port city of Lagos and is the ultimate escape to unwind with a friend or your lover. You can swim and relax by the pool, take creative workshops, and browse the concept store filled with handmade home accessories and swimwear. Step outside, and in five minutes, you're at the golden sandy beach of Meia Praia or grabbing a plate of pickled sardines at a local tavern. Whatever you fancy, everything is at your fingertips here.
When booking a holiday to Casa Mãe, you can choose from three different buildings to stay in, each with its charm and unique style. The main building, Casa Mãe, is furnished with vintage pieces, the Joga da Bola building has a minimalist interior, and the Cabanas are boho chic. The fun thing is: the interior accessories and decorations you see in the hotel and in the rooms are almost all for sale in the concept store on the ground floor - perfect for sprucing up your own home!
If you're a food enthusiast, you're in for a treat at Restaurant Orta. Here you can taste the sun on your plate, in the morning, afternoon and evening! The dishes are Mediterranean, prepared with fresh ingredients from the area: from the daily fresh fish from the port of Lagos to the crunchy vegetables from Casa Mãe's own estate. The breakfast here is also a treat! Just think about it, oatmeal pancakes with homemade jam or honey, a smoothie bowl, and toast with spinach, feta, and poached eggs. Is your mouth watering yet?
If you go to the back of Casa Mãe, you'll find the sun terrace. Here, the friendly and smiling staff serves rosé and tasty little snacks. Sitting here, you'll also receive a map of Veronique's favourite places. It contains insider tips that are really worth checking out, like a few nice little beaches in the area that aren't too busy and touristy, and a hip bar on the roof of a former church. Are you packing your suitcase yet?

Deliciously sustainable
In this House of Hideaways accommodation, you can enjoy a wonderful vacation in a conscious way. This starts with organic food in the restaurant and ends with paper straws and biodegradable packaging they try to use as much as possible. Moreover, almost all products come from the vicinity of the hotel. The interior accessories and furniture pieces are nearly all made by hand by local craftsmen, and the organic vegetables and eggs come from their own land.
3 buildings, 3 styles
Are you going for minimalist, boho chic or classic vintage? At Casa Mãe, you can choose a room with your favorite interior style. The unique boutique hotel has 3 buildings, each decorated in a unique way. Although each building is completely different, they all offer comfortable rooms and you'll find a relaxed vibe and a nod to Portuguese life everywhere.

Restaurant Orta
In the farm-to-table restaurant Orta, you can enjoy delicious and local food all day long. Start your day with a green smoothie and avocado toast and in the evening, enjoy a delightful ceviche with sweet potato puree. Sounds good, doesn't it? And even better: everything is prepared with love and made from pure, organic ingredients from the region and the immediate surroundings of this special boutique hotel.

The most beautiful beaches in the world
When you've seen pictures of Portugal, you undoubtedly have been swooning over Praia Dona Anna. The most beautiful beach in the country, which has been ranked number 1 on the famous list of Condé Nast Traveller, above South Male Atoll Beach in the Maldives and the beach of Tulum in Mexico. It's not surprising. In fact, when you see the spectacular rock formations in combination with the turquoise water and the golden sand, you have to pinch yourself; it's heavenly!
